The women’s cross-country team went to the UW-Parkside meet on Saturday, placing seventh out of 20 teams. Coming in behind Northern Michigan, with 58
points, was Saginaw Valley, who placed 71 points, Wayne State placing 103 points, U. of Chicago’s 132 points, Northwestern’s 138 points, and UW-Parkside’s 187 points. The Thunder had 200 points in the race.
The Thunder was led by senior Emma Shunk, who finished the 6K course in 10th place out of the 271 runners, with a time of 18:14.8, 34 seconds behind Saginaw Valley’s senior Emily Short, who posted the winning time. Junior Jessica Hawthorne finished the course in 18:44.1 to place second for the Thunder, and 25th overall. Freshman Becca Marcotte came in 46th, with a time of 19:10.2, followed by senior Abby Bullmore, who came in 55th with a time of 19:27.3. Sophomore Rachel Thomson came in fifth for the Thunder, posting a time of 19:34.2 in 64th place. Sophomore Anna Trujillo placed 69th in 19:46.5, with Hannah Barbour placing seventh for the Thunder with a time of 19:51.2, coming in 73rd.
